ラーメン — Ramen. 招き猫 — Maneki-neko. The luckiest cat in Japan just found a better use for its raised paw.
The Maneki-neko — Japan's iconic beckoning lucky cat, traditionally displayed to bring good fortune — has been reimagined here sitting inside a ramen bowl, noodles raised mid-slurp, bell collar intact, expression utterly serene. The kanji 招き猫 frames the composition on both sides — top right and bottom — giving it the typographic weight of a proper Japanese woodblock print. Which is exactly what the linework deserves.
Rendered in dense black linocut-style illustration on a salmon ground with neon pink katakana, the swirling background pattern echoes the movement of both steam and good luck in equal measure. It's the kind of print that works as hard as a piece of graphic design as it does as wall art.
Good fortune. Great noodles. No notes.
